    Talking Sticky not screwed :)

    Hi,
    Im currently looking for another way to 'stick' fans etc to a case without using screw fixings, my anetc p160 is made of aluminium and frankly these alot of vibration between the fan and the case, I have got some rubber grommets tp put between the fan and the case but is there a way I can do without the screws at all.

    A double sided sticky pad for example wher I can put a fan on the case with these and no screw fixings at all? I was thinking about the stuff the sometimes put on magazines to hold cd's its very sticky but also quite soft which I think would be ace to attach a fan and absorb noise -

    so any ideas what to use to be sticky not screwed

    Have you thought about 7V modding the fans so they run a bit slower?
    PHP Code:
    $s = new signature();
    $s->sarcasm()->intellect()->font('Courier New')->display();

    Hi,
    I have a fan controller so I assume that reduces the voltage supplied in order to slow/speed up the fans? I have added oil and that shut the fans up quite a bit so Ive identfied the next problem which is vibration, Ive got gel pads going to Robert dyas today to look for very sticky pads - dunno what they'll make of me

    Ordered a YS_tech which Ive heard good things about papst were and zalman etc were out fo stock, I went by the decibel ratings and all were around 40db at full blast altho papst shift alot more air than most. I got a vantec pci fan blower to sort out air in the case as I think I have a deadspot in there where no air moves causing some of the over heating problems. I wondered about glue btu the point was to have a 'soft' absoptive like material which could be removed easily like a sticky pad btu was strong enough to put a gel tab in between - Ill see how this works tonight but in theory u should get alot less vibration as theres nothing metal/plastic touching each other.

    failing that bring the glue gun lol

    Im just amazed this hasnt been done before surely a metal screw fixing on tough plastic causes alot of vibration therefore putting on sticky pads with gel in between should sort the whole vibration thing in one go no?

    If your looking for some new fans, perhaps buying ones with self-tapping screws? I think the fans I use are Antec (?) thermally contolled Ultra Silent fans. These are self-tapping and cause no vibration at all. Hope it helps.
