Looking for a Netbook/Ultra Portable - Options!
Hi folks, I'm currently looking for a netbook or small lappy http://forums.hexus.net/wanted/23744...ll-laptop.html to take away with me during the week. I've currently got a works Dell which weighs a ton!
I'm unsure what my options are as I've been out of the mobile loop for a while. I don't mind second hand as long as price is ok.
My (probably fairly basic) needs are:
Dual Core
10"-14" screen @ A reasonable resolution
Reasonable battery (not a major deal though)
Trackpad if possible
Decent keyboard
Webcam
It'll be used for Skype and browsing so it doesn't need to be a beast but I'd like it not to be sluggish (I've used a single core Atom Netbook in the past and nearly cried!)
I'm currently scouring eBay and HUKD for cheapies as my budget is around the £100 mark.
Any suggestions? :)
Thanks all,
Rob
Re: Looking for a Netbook/Ultra Portable - Options!
I think your asking way too much for your budget!
Even a half decent spec'd small screen laptop holds quite a bit of value still, my laptop with 13" screen that is around 3-4 years old is still woth around £300+ second hand.
Re: Looking for a Netbook/Ultra Portable - Options!
Hence why I'm asking here and am also flexible ;)
I know I could get a netbook for well under £100 when I last looked about 6 months ago so figure that still stands for now slightly better specs :)
Re: Looking for a Netbook/Ultra Portable - Options!
While netbooks are nice they are far slower than a laptop, my toshiba satellite pro U400 seriously outperforms my old eeepc 901, but the battery life on the 901 is much better than the U400
Quick look on fleabay 2nd hand U400 £225 http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Toshiba-Sa...item46027387f4
One issue I do have with the U400 is the lack of scroll, the track pad is not multi-touch and does not have a scroll at the side function, and overall it's a bit small, but for a 13" screen laptop it's good.
It's the laptop I used for my Soviet Pob Propaganda mod (see my sig)
