    Building A Laptop

    Just a pretty general question here
    Is it possible to build your own laptop?
    I mean, i know 'bout building mini itx on batteries and stuff but is it possible to build your own laptop, granted you have to find the parts?
    Cheers guys

    From "News Roundup #3" posted on our front page yesterday, a link to an article on Legit Reviews about building a laptop:

    http://legitreviews.com/reviews/whitebox2/ - (Part 2, I'll let you find the others.)
    PHP Code:
    $s = new signature();
    $s->sarcasm()->intellect()->font('Courier New')->display();

    I remember speaking to a guy from Intel about "whitebox laptops" at CTS earlier this year. It's more for smaller distributors to brand their own lappys, or at least that's the impression that I got at the time.
    PHP Code:
    $s = new signature();
    $s->sarcasm()->intellect()->font('Courier New')->display();

    I do run a small computer firm with my bro and must say I like the idea of whiteboxes... Unfortunally all available to me right now is a brand called FIC, not heard of them elsewhere. And their screens are capped at 1024*768, which is too low for 14.1" and 15" laptop I believe. Not sure if they would be good in any other way ether. The low resolutions scared me away from them for now atleast.

    I have not been able to find a distributor that would sell Asus Whiteboxes here in Sweden. Will surely continue my search though.

    I'd say go for it. Not had much luck finding the whitebox laptops in the UK though, and Asus would be the only whitebox retailers I would consider using, people like ECS and FIC just don't do anything for me, and Acer don't sell whitebox.

    We sell Acer Laptops... They are really great, but I know they don't make any whiteboxes... Sad really. But Asus is another brand I trust alot in, and their whiteboxes look good.

    I just read that article but neither part 1 or part 2 give prices for everything, anyone point to a price for that setup or any guestimation?
