    W/C or A64?

Over the summer holidays I plan to do something, as next year I will have todo a lot of revision (its the year of my GCSE's next year) so I won't have days doing nothing anymore
So I want something todo over the summer hols. Now I already decidec i'm gonna mod a case but I also want todo something else to my main rig.
I have narrowed it down to just 2 choices. I could either buy a water cooling kit and fit it all together and o/c my system or I could save a grand buy an Athlon 64 3500+, 1Gb Corsair RAM, x800XT PE and Motherboard.

I have already saved around £400 so I could either save another £600 or get a w/c kit and put the rest in my bank.

After hearing lots of people ranting about people who have 9800's and want x800's, i'm not too sure if i'll go down the a64 route just yet, maybe wait until christmas or something.

Tell me what you think and your opinions!
    Cheers

Go for the watercooling and save the £600, you don't need the extra power and you'll probably be glad of £600 in a years time for something. Have a holiday with your friends or something after your GCSEs.

A A64 3500+ is a great CPU.. and a next gen Graphics VPU gives a lot of performance. I see you currently already have a quite good P4 with a 9800Pro, and that means you could just aswell wait. You won't benefit too much from an upgrade even if you would recognize the increese in speed.

I'd get the watercooling kit and save the money, you can upgrade later when your hardware isn't as updated as it is atm.

Bah, don't listen to this lot; go for the fancy new CPU and GPU.

I just have, and its a lot more fun than water cooling. After all, if you want to do something like that properly, you might as well go and get a Vapochill Extreme \ Lightspeed or a Prommy Mach II, and go sub zero baby.

Get a 939 3500+, Asus A8V Deluxe, Gig of nice RAM and an X800XT Platinum. Put it together, and your system will fly.

Indeed. A large (well, according to City Link, 2 large) box will arrive at my door, Monday, and in it, shall be that lot, minus the GPU, which I've got to wait until the end of July for.

Still, I'll have a lot of fun building that rig, and with Doom III just around the corner now, I know the perfect test subject for it to cut its teeth on.

Opening boxes is almost as much fun as building new gaming rigs, don't you find?

New kit in a package with bubble wrap > Women.

Of course, give me a woman in bubble wrap, and the kit can wait until the morning.

    Hmm, mixed opinions I see.

I know I would really like A64 and all this that goes with it BUT i'm not really on a fixed income, I get £4 an hour for working with my dad, and its gonna take me a long time to get £200, let alone £600!

Still trying to make my mind up, just been offered a Mach I phase change and Intel kit for £185, still a hard choice for me.

    Gimme more opinions guys

At this moment in time, im thinking of replacing my p4 (533Mhz FSB) with another p4 at 800Mhz FSB because my chip at the moment will only reach 3Ghz stable, anywhere after that it is unstable, and i know its not the cooling!
