Aria sells Ivy Bridge for 167 pounds currently, however stock is quickly diminishing.

You seem to be right about that, totally forgot about the delivery charges. It kinda annoys me to see components go for cheap in USA as well, people reported buying the 3570k for 199 dollars (which is 123~ GBP).

In North America and particularly in the USA all prices are quoted excluding sales tax, in the UK we all get VAT at the same rate so everyone is shafted by the same amount, in the US each State shafts people at different rates so quoting US prices and then converting them to UK equivalents is very misleading unless you compare them to our ex-VAT prices.

This is kinda true, but in most states sales tax is between 4-6% with a lot of states also having no sales tax at all. This is a huge difference to the massive 20% VAT we have to pay.

    Re: Sandy or Ivy bridge?

But there's also the issue of price drops and introductory price offers in the US that never make it over here ether, or do so months later.
Also a supply and demand issue, the majority of the stock for a new product often goes to the US with the UK/EU getting dribs and drabs until early demand drops off in the US, which pushes prices up and keeps them up longer.
Still many places in the EU get worse deals than we do and the prices and availability in some places would really shock you (South Africa is one example I know of where prices, range and stock can make the UK market look minor.)

    Re: Sandy or Ivy bridge?

Friend in Canada told me the IVB cpus have been sneaking up in price all day starting at about £135 for 3570k and ending the day at just short of £150, oretty much the same has happened in UK retailers aswell.
