couple more things: RAM- i actually have one stick (another pc2700 from crucial was ordered before the start of the thread, but i wrote back and cancelled when everyone started going on about 3200) is it worth upgrading all ram to 3200?

Also, for the parts that you would replace (eg PSU, videocard, old ram), how much could i get for trading them in/selling them?

Upgrading to 3200 - no point if you're not overclocking. PC2700 means that it runs at 166mhz. Your CPU has an FSB of 166, and RAM and CPU FSB run best in sync (for AMD anyway). If you buy PC3200 RAM, you're paying for RAM that can run at 200mhz, when it'll only be running at 166mhz.

Of course, if you decide to overclock, then PC3200 becomes a must.

Crucial have a deal on at the moment when you order 2x512MB you save £5 which made it cheaper than 2x512MB of PC2700 i should think
