    939 socket Athlon64 3500+
    Asus A8V Deluxe Wireless Edition.
    Gig of Crucial Ballistix DDR400.

Not amazingly expensive (although obviously, not cheap either), and will fly, with the back-up of a nice X800XT Platinum \ 6800 Ultra.

No need for DDR2 on AMD - they are talking about jumping straight to DDR3 which will have a performance advantage.

Seen any advantage going from AGP4x to 8X? Don't expect any going to 16x in the short term either.
PCI Express will come but will be a few months (let's face it , there is nothing to use in it yet )

Interesting article comparing gaming performance of cpu's

this is more like it, options options options, and opinions opinions opinions.

I thought about what for the PCI-E stuff but it will be like AGP, where the AGP 1 stuff comes out ok - and is ok, but a year or two later your on AGP 8 which is the bench mark This PC should last me a year or two.

Interesting comments about the ram as I want that to be VERY fast, bottom line I want a box that is %199 top spec

Well then Intel has the latest! But like buff said..... does it matter? And BTX will come out soon too! And yes PCI express is out! Nvidia has some... Intel has the fastest chip set on the market right now! Or at least they claim to... And they COST!!
