Hi guys, my cpu is running @ 3.6 on air (2.8 and 257fsb), I have an IC7 and my cpu temp gets up to 66 according to motherboard monitor. Now although I have NO bsd's or crashes is ANY games (incl Farcry, UT2k4, Hitman3 etc etc), I am a bit concerned. Does anyone else have a similar sytem to me (and what temps?).

Normally as long as its stable its ok :) How is your case ventilation? ( Leave the side panel off your case and if the cpu temps drop you know your case ventilation isnt good enough :) )
IMO 66 is a tad too high. I'd try to keep full load temps to 60 at absolute maximum
I think 66 is a touch high if its a Northwood - if its a prescott I wouldn't worry too much ;)
Thermal limit for that chip is 75 degrees so keep below that and your fine :)
Im sure that CPU will throttle if its too hot have you noticed any slowness?
Also make sure youve got nothing hogging the CPU and it isnt running constantly at load
Hi guys, thanks for your comments. FYI, the cpu is a northwood, I have taken off the sidepanel and this only made a 1C temp diff on the cpu, the system is 100% stable (prime, memtest, 3dmark etc etc). Do you reckon I should pop the oc down a notch (currently using 1.62v on the cpu)? But I dont want to do this unless I have to (love my sysem as it is :)
My advice would be to just leave it. As long as its stable you wont have a problem with it, but remember to check it on the really hot days as you might have to clock down then.
Ok thanks guys, just to be safe I have clocked down to 3.5, using 1.575v (1.53v cos of under volt), so that has lowered my max temp to 59, much better. Feel safer now, thanks anyway.
ur board is prolly giving u false readings anyway. so as long as u find its stable dont worry

Hi mate, thats exactly what I do to test my cpu for stability, so the max temp I stated above (66C) is while running Prime95 and Toast simultaniously (100% cpu usage according to task manager).Quote:

either you need to update your bios which could be blissfully lying to, in which case don't worry about is, or i'd underclock it a bit or get a better cooler, because if its constantly running at 60 degrees you could be shortenning its lifespan even if it is as stable as ox...
The bios update dont help! I was told it would from Abit! But it did not! Its a bad temp calculating code in the bios chip.. or so I was told....Quote:
