    New PC ordered!

So i finally bit the bullet and ordered my new pc parts from scan!

Went for 2500k + p8z77-v pro and H100 in the end as i am planning overclocking and will only jump on the ivy bridge bandwagon if i ever need the new IVB features in the future/later stepping running amazingly cool.

    Gets here thursday. Exciting stuff!

    Re: New PC ordered!

Return the 2500K and get the 3570K, the H100 you ordered will keep it cool enough for the average overclocker. Come next year when Haswell is released you motherboard will be outdated and you won't be able to do much about it, sure u could add the 3570K then but at a cost of £161.94 OEM // £172.98 Retail.... I can't see people's logic in this choice, the 3570K has native support for all the new tech//features and unless your overclocking to silly and I do mean silly speeds your not going to have heat issues.

Your Choice, good luck with which ever build you decide to go for

Have to agree, you lose the updated quicksync, intel 4000, and pci-e gen 3.

    Re: New PC ordered!

Tri-gate transistor technology (Uses less power)
    PCI Express 3.0 support
    USB 3.0 support
    Max CPU multiplier of 63
RAM support up to 2800 MT/s in 200 MHz increments
    Intel HD Graphics 2500/4000
The built-in GPU will have 6 or 16 execution units
    Bull Mountain
    Multiple 4K video playback.
    Intel Quick Sync

I'm not sure what some of these things mean but at a*5% to 15% increase in CPU performance and*20% to 50% increase in integrated GPU performance your paying more for the worse chip (2500K), unless overclocking past 5Ghz is your goal I just can't see why you would pair a 2500K with a Z77 board.

Sorry I have neglected reading this post, real life has been getting in the way!
Build is complete and I'm loving it!

Reason I got a Z77 vs z68 is because it's hard to find the older gen boards now. So availability rather than features.

This chip I have seems to be a good'un. I have 4.8Ghz sable at 1.37 volts with max core temps around 56~59 C. It started needing more juice to run 4.9Ghz so I left it for now and will give that a shot when I have more time.

And yuup I do actually have a use for the higher speeds. Im backing up my entire DVD collection of over 500 dvd's + Blurays. And when free time is limited as it is the more I can get done per hour, the more free time I have

Plus I don't ever find myself ever doing anything that needs the igpu as handbrake doesn't use quicksync? And everything else gets done by the discrete graphics card (soon to be a GTX 670 when the bank balance looks a bit nicer)

But my god I was bricking it when I installed the CPU as this is the first CPU I have installed haha!

    P.S. 63 multi with a H100... I wish

I will get a few photos tomorrow as I'm using my phone to type this.
