Talking just recieved my new laptop

well, if any of you frequent the find me a bargain forum, then you may have seen my post looking for a laptop for around £500.

today it arrived, and so far i am very very pleased with it.

its a toshiba sattelite pro A10:

    2.0ghz celeron
    256mb ram
    30gb hdd
    dvd
    10/100 lan
    56k modem
    14" screen
    XP Home

    first impressions?

well, when i opened the box i was quite taken with it, it looks very good quality, with a nice silver finish. the catch on the screen is very good, quite stiff, but not too much so, which is an argument ive had with previous laptops ive used, the catch is either to stiff or too loose. the screen is fantastic, not a single problem with it. the keyboard is lovely for me, but then i like laptop style keyboards.

the sound isnt as bad as i thought it would be using the onboard speakers, and im quite happily listening to my winamp list now from them, though perhaps if this was my only computer i would buy a proper set of speakers for when im at home.

the trackpad for the mouse seems good enough, though since i am sitting at a desk using this i have plugged in an old microsoft usb optical mouse i have for the time being.

divx playback is flawless, so is dvd, not much else to say about that really.

in a little while i will take some photos and do some benchmarks if anyone is interested.

    Matt

its also dead silent apart from disk activity when its idle, so im really impressed with that

not sure on the thickness, but it isnt thick at all in my opinion.

ok, just ran 3dmark 2001, i thought this laptop wouldnt be good for games... but i was wrong! look at the score!

    1337 3d marks...

in all seriousness, this was never bought for gaming, and im not suprised at the low score as it only has a standard intel gfx chipset.

heres the setup i used for 3dmark

just going to go and run some of the sandra benchmarks now
