Will an IDE to SATA converter work without OS?
So I plan to build a system soon, but I dont have quite enough money to get a brand new hard drive to go with it. So I thought I would use an old IDE drive from my previous computer. What I would like to know is, would the converter work if I have no OS on the system, as in I'm just gonna plug it in, boot up and try to install Windows. Since this is my first forum post I cant post links ._. but what I am planning to get is a StarTech Bi-Directional SATA IDE Adapter from Amazon. Thanks a bunch.
Re: Will an IDE to SATA converter work without OS?
it should do, those sorts of things don't have drivers or such, you'll be speed limited of course.

I don't mind the speed. Since I'm using ide in the first place anyway. Thanks for the response. So I guess I'll be getting it then.
