all you wise heads, please take a peek

After 2½ years its time for an upgrade. I’ve got some cash (but not mega bucks ) and have more or less decided on the following:

    CPU: Athlon64 3500 (socket 939)
    MoBo: Asus A8V deluxe VIA K8T800PRO, 939
    PSU: Tagan 480w TG480-u01
Memory: 512 Mb Corsair XMS, DDR, PC3200C2PT, Cas 2 (two of these for 1Gb)
    Video: BFG 6800 GT

I already have a case, monitor, 7200 HDD, optical drives, some cooling.
The system is going to be used mainly for gaming but for a few other things too.

Any recommendations? Is there anything that I should obviously change or am missing? The memory is the component I’m least sure about. Noise levels/heat I’d like to keep to a minimum.

Further suggestions and advice very gratefully received.

Not sure if my opinion is worth anything as I'm a wise-ass not a wise head.

What you have looks pritty good if you are not going to be overclocking. I am unfamilar with that brand of PSU, but if they are known for quality 480 watts is fine. As for the memory, the corsiar you are looking at is pritty good stuff and I don't think you would have any problems with it, but it may be more economical to get slightly looser timings, or a less expensive brand (as long as it's goo quality), with no noticeable degridation in performance.

I can vouch for Tagan 480W - superb, running 2 optical drives, 4 hard drives, floppy, overclocked xp2500, overclocked 9700 pro. 2 case fans.

Rock solid. Very quiet. I'm sure no one will disagree.

Im a bit behind with whats currently available, but i'd wait for mobo PCI-Xpress. Also, youd want to know when BTX is going to be released me thinks.

The Tagan 480 watter is one of the best silent PSUs, but have heard a bit about RMAs (not sure if it was just one bad batch tho).

Also, Corsair have released 2-2-2-X sticks with Samsung chips (i think its the XL range) which would be a little better than the C2 range (TBH honest would bother with anything more than the C2PT, but if the money is available and u want nothing but the best... )
