Using the PC's Chassis for extra cooling?

Ive got a SN45G which has the alu case, you will hear people say alu cases help conduct heat better which tbh is utter ****e, now what im thinking is that mabe if i rigged up someway to make the hsf on my vid card make contact with the case lid could this help drop the temps? sort of like a very large heatspreader? anyone tryed anything like this?

    Yeah zalman

Not sure what the case is but they have one that spread the heat into the whole case, was a ridiculous price last time I check.
