Angry Printer refuses to print yellow

Ok the printer is a HP960c, so far its served me well but to night i treid to print something out which had yellow in it and the printer completely ignored the yellow sections of the documents. It left the yellow bits of the paper totally white. It not even like its attempted to do anything but could because of a blockage or lack of ink, theres no evidence of it tried to do somthing on the paper. This is a relitively new colour cartridge to and this is the first time ive needed to print any major colour documents with it since i had it. I just got back from a two week holiday, so im wondering if theres a huge blockage somewhere. ive tried cleaning the cartridge both through my OS and manualy and ive tried priming the cartridge. Ive even tried printing a whole A4 in yellow using high link levels, to try and force and blockages which may be there out some how, but no, not a spec of yellow was printed. To be honest it doesnt look like there was ever any ink on the print head any way. Its completely clean on the yellow side (the print head is built into these cartridges). Any ideas what could be wrong. Ive treid everything i know. Its a rather annoying problem to have especialy with a new cartridge.

looks like its either blocked (and they are a son of a beech to unblock) or its a bad cartridge

id say dump the printer and get a proper 1 ie canon or epson

alternative is to let the jet end of the cartridge sit in some diluted meths for a few hours to soften any blockages

Is Isopropynol a suitable thing to use instead of meths? Its Alcohol based i think.

if it's a brand new cartridge, just take it back and replace it. They should be warrantied for that sort of thing.... and you won't unblock an HP cartridge if that's the case....

Ive had it since the end of may but i havent printed anything with volumes of colour in it, so its not newly bought. Its an Ink Again cartridge from Argos (their in the book) after the stupid prices HP charge i decided to go with these cos their cheaper.

My advice - take it back get a replacement. I bought an Ink again cartridge (had my 960C for about 3-4 years) and it wouldn't print blue. Then all of a sudden it did - it printed all the blue in it's cartridge everywhere....
Now go away before I taunt you a second time.

Refill cartridges - If they don't work, take them back.

HP do actually make good quality print cartridges. The print heads are on the actual cartridge which is why they cost so much. But the cheaper ones are using cheaper components so there will be a higher chance of failure.

I'd expect that the cartridge was faulty since it was bought - So you would have been able to return it.

I'm well happy with the 959C though - And free print cartridges as long as my Auntie is still alive!

Also have the 959c, managed to pick up the duplex unit from work Considering its not a dedicated photo printer the photo prints are excellent. I picked up a bulk load of original ink a while ago for it so running costs are nil. Keep thinking of flogging it on ebay with the ink and getting a canon i865 for photo work, as I also have a laser for text.
