Usb keyboard not working on boot!

Hi all hope all is going well!

I have purchased a new motherboard and the usb keyboard doesnt work on bios and im forced to use a ps/2 kebyoard adapter in order to get into the bios. However, once bios has loaded my usb keyboard is working fine! Will really appreciate any help on this matter as i do not want to plug in a sp/2 keyboard to enter my bios in the near future lol :|

    What MoBo is it ?
My Gigabyte won't load a USB keyboard unless I set a variable for it to do so in the BIOS. This is then saved as one of the settings. Could be something similar. What settings are available on your bios for USB devices ?

Re: Usb keyboard not working on boot!

    Hey,

Some USB keyboards have drivers to load after the boot process to work, so this is possibly the cause of your problems. You will just have to use a ps/2 keyboard to set things up in the bios or try a Tesco/Asda budget USB Keyboard, they always seem to work fine

What Keyboard and Motherboard do you have btw??

Could be the cheap keyboard requires some odd drivers. Can you test with AN Other USB keyboard and see if that works ?

Same problem with my Enermax Aurora keyboard on the Gigabyte Z77X-UD5H. A gimp way to get around it is by turning the power off, waiting for a few seconds for the capacitors to dissipate, then powering it back up. From a cold boot using this method the USB keyboard should be active from power on, at least it is on my motherboard. I need to look into it more, not sure if it's a BIOS configuration issue or just a BIOS bug.
