confused about memory

what performance gains are made between 533 and 800 . which would you go for out of these 2 .. im on a bit of a budget

Performance gains are real, but not huge (3-4fps?). Going to 2gb of RAM would help more though in recent games.

everyone should be leaning towards 2GB's now.. im just waiting on the price falling back to around the £50 per gig mark. bad time to be buying

to close to christmas? or somthing else keeping prices high?

i think what pushed up the prices was the new releases in cpu's and motherboards, not entirely sure though.

It's a combination of effects, but it's basic supply and demand - when AMD switched to using DDR2 on top of the new range of CPUs from Intel demand was higher than supply.

Personally I think it'll be at it's lowest just before Vista comes out in early January, when demand will rise again. So leave it as late as you can before christmas if that's what you're aming for. You should be able to hit 50-55 quid per gb - so if you see any offers getting it down to this level then might as well go for it.
