Looking for a budget Gaming Keyboard, any advice
Evening Peeps
i have been looking for a budget gaming keyboard to replace my dell keyboard i stole..... i mean borrowed from work.
Can anyone advise on a good budget one. Not wanting one with all the bells and whistles, just one that is comfortable to use for long periods of time, and maybe light up.
Been looking through the net, but so many to choose from.
Cheers
Chris

If non mechanical then the Microsoft sidewinder x4, I love it, its really good and lights up red, plus it's dirt cheap. If mechanical, then the steelseries 6gv2, its a nice basic keyboard that does it's job, but pricey compared to the sidewinder, although I'm pretty sure its the cheapest mechanical keyboard out there that is any decent.

For gaming, I think mechanical is the way to go, I've got the Corsair K90 myself but it is a bit pricey. And as dokdek said, the Microsoft sidewinder is pretty good for it's price.

What's your budget?
Mechanical might be best, but they're pricey. For a non-mechanical I find the Saitek Eclipse II very good - very durable keys, comfy to type on, good backlighting, and no bling.

A good budget one? = Microsoft sidewinder x4.
Re: Looking for a budget Gaming Keyboard, any advice
I wouldn't spend more than £30 if you're going non mechanical, both the saitek and sidewinder aren't bad boards at all.
I would really try to see if you could save up some monies and wait a month or however long needed to get a mechanical, don't have to spend a fortune, you can pick up a decent board for £60, especially if you look at 2nd hand :)
Only issue, once you go mechanical, you'll never go back ;)
Re: Looking for a budget Gaming Keyboard, any advice
When most people refer to mechanicals, they are referring to boards which use Cherry MX switches.
Rather than the whole board being a capacitive layer, and you making connections when you press down keys, mechanicals have individual switches for each key.
To me, they are far nicer to use, and are normally of a far higher quality of build etc.
However you're looking at spending around £60 as a minimum to get one.

The thing to remember about a good quality mechanical keyboard is that it will last you basically forever, it's not like other components that need to be upgraded every 3-5 years.
If you spend £100 on a keyboard that lasts you 25 years that's pretty good value.

Ok looks like the sidewinder is a good one. looks good too.
New on amazon for £40.

Well same with a good non-mechanical too to be honest.

Anyone have experience with the Mionix? What's it like? I was thinking of the Razer BW Ultimate but must admit the lure of the mionix's green keys have interested me. That and the fact my friend already has the razer makes me wanna try something different.

Not quite, a rubber dome keyboard will degrade slowly over time, it won't last half the time before you notice the difference compared to new.
But that's not the point, you don't need to think twice about a £30 item, a £100 keyboard sounds expensive until you realise it's £4 a year.
The Mionix keyboard is fine, but too expensive for what it is, there are cheaper and better alternatives. I would only buy one if it is on sale.

The mionix is great, built like a tank, I would totally buy it too, but its just so overpriced, I'm planning to get a corsair k90 myself.
