Getting back into PC gaming, £2k budget, advice?

I would build your own system if possible! The only advantage of a pre-built system is that you might able to get a collect and return warranty within the budget.

However,for your budget,you can build an uber rig and you might have some change left too!!

If you have built a system before I think it is only getting easier to do so.
You will get a much better system for a lot less if you build your own.

Unless you have a lot of money I would suggest you would be better off reducing your budget, certainly if you are planning on single monitor gaming.

Yeah build your own. I had never done anything like it before I built the system I have now and it was a lot easier than I thought plus it was really enjoyable.
That was almost 2 years back and I've never really had a problem with it (couple of software issues, nothing to do with the build). Also with your budget it's not like you will have to use cheapo components anywhere
The build CAT posted looked really good. With the spare £500 quid you could buy a good desk/chair and and set of speakers just to cap it all off nicely.

If he's got a budget of £2000 reducing the price because of a single monitor isn't justified if you're planning to do build a high end gaming rig.
For example a 120hz monitor to play games like Battlefield 3 at the fullest graphics your going to need more than one graphics card to get the fullest out of the monitor.
So going SLI or Crossfire is justified if you want to achieve the better frame rates than you would on a three way monitor setup for nvidia surround or eyefinity.

Wow, that is some extreme pricing for such low class components such as the low end 2x GeForce GTX 555 which I never heard of (not even Ti version), as well as an odd selection such as the locked i7 for games.

For 2000 quid it is possible to get much better items as well as getting some luxury peripherals such as an mechanical keyboard, IPS or 120hz monitors and audiophile headphones... What CAT-THE-FIFTH posted in that thread is already a very good choice.

Even if you have no experience building PCs, the internet will help. There's many video guides out there on youtube. People have learned many things on it, including giving birth...
