    Shuttle SNG584 + 250gb SATA Maxtor

I recieved me new comp today hoping to be able to boot straight up and install xp on me sata drive but it couldn't detect it in the setup, but detected it in the silicon graphics raid setup. I have now put XP on a temporary ATA and I can see the drive in the device manager but cannot access it, i can also populate its size and it tells me... its well dodgy, any help appreciated. I've updated all drivers etc as well...

Get the drivers on a floppy, attach an old floppy drive to the Shuttle and hit F6 during the WinXP installation. AFAIK that's the only way to do it.

In order to install onto a SATA drive with XP you need to press F6 when it says at the start of the install to install the SATA drivers so it can see the drive. This means that you will need to have a floppy disk with the drivers in the root.

Or you could use ghost form a PATA install *BUT* to work this must have the SATA drivers installed and working.
