    U2412M Monitor issue

Had my U2412M around 2 months now and have had no problems with it at all, but that all changed today! My pc had been on nearly all day and nothing strange had happened, but I have just returned to my pc when I found an issue. The screen was black with the amber light on meaning it was in safe mode (the screen that is), so I unplugged the mini display cable and nothing. I then turned my mouse on, and my screen came back to life! Now i know the screen has some power saving mode on it, and I check that it was off. I also checked the power settings for the pc, and 'never' is selected for 'turn off display' and 'put computer to sleep'.

Any ideas why it did that? As I said have had it two months and this has not happened before, and I woudl really like to know why it happened.

Did you try and wake up the machine before ripping out the cables etc? Sounds like it was in power-saving if a mouse being turned on woke it up

Might be some power saving feature/driver on your graphics card maybe? Updated the drivers recently?

Was the machine logged in? The power profiles may differ if you were logged in or not.

Also nothing really wrong with having the display turn off when not in use, I disable the sleep etc but see no reasons to burn power.

I first turned the monitor off and then on thinking maybe my gfx card had gone, and then i turned on my mouse which woke it up. Haven't updated the gfx drivers for a few months and I don't have any energy mode on it, so don't think its that (unless my gfx is dying slowly). I was logged into the machine when I left it.
