True Silver compression fittings?

Hello,

I am planning on building a water-cooled system, and after researching, I discovered that silver acts as a biocide against algae or other nasties growing inside the loop. So, that's great, right? Well, it would be if I could find some, but I can't! The only alternative I've found is a "kill-coil", but it looks ugly and I highly doubt it would fit in my res.

What else could I do? I am also thinking of using p.T Nuke in the loop, but I would like something true silver in order to be absolutely sure.

A kill-coil *is* silver It's a loosely wound spring of near-pure silver, and is usually sized so it will fit into one of your tubes (slide it in before you connect both fittings) but not pass through the fittings. If you're using coloured tube, you won't even know it's there!

I know, but I've also heard that it can restrict the flow something fierce.

Nowhere near as much as your CPU and GPU blocks and Radiator will! It's considerably less restrictive than a standard fitting as it has a larger diameter. The only thing I can really see it doing is causing some localised turbulence in the tube you stick it in, and that should be negligible compared to the turbulence caused by pushing through constricting fittings.

I'm pretty sure they can, yeah, but if not you could always wind it very slightly tighter yourself - silver's a soft metal, after all, squishing it down a bit should be easy enough
