Well this looks like an interesting budget mATX case
Re: Well this looks like an interesting budget mATX case
It certainly sounds very good value for money.
The HDD mounts are somewhat unusual, I would worry about vibration and whether it can really hold six 3.5" drives.
The front panel are going to be somewhat awkward if you have this thing on the floor, and no USB 3.0 either.
Still, minor quibbles aside, it looks elegant, has soundproofing and the price is excellent.

At that price it's pretty darn good. But no USB 3.0 or filters ?

Could be a bit narrow 187 x 367 x 395mm. full height coolers amy not fit....
Looks decent though and seems to have foam on the inside.
They seem to be swedish. (a useless tid bit)

still can't believe they can fit the side panel on the case :P
Re: Well this looks like an interesting budget mATX case
Especially if they need to mount HDDs over the CPU area.
It looks like that cooler might be limiting them to a single HDD just lying on the bottom of the case.

Plus the single 3.5" bay and two 5.25" bays at the top.

Looks pretty good to me. I don't understand why budget mATX cases don't have the PSU on the bottom though, most budget ATX cases have managed to do that now.
Re: Well this looks like an interesting budget mATX case
Some expensive high quality cases also have the PSU up top. As you can see from the picture it means you have totally unobstructed front to back airflow.
This high quality case does the same thing, so it's 180mm fan can work efficiently:

That does make sense. I guess some manufacturers believe that you can have totally unobstructed front to back airflow whilst some believe that heat rises. That's a lovely case btw.
Re: Well this looks like an interesting budget mATX case
It's nice enough, but I really don't see why at this point you wouldn't just get an ATX case and be done with it - 5 PCI slots is practically full tower anyway. I always thought the point of mATX was to make your PC smaller... ;)

I guess it depends upon which cooling solution you have, if air flow is quick then I guess it doesn't have much time to rise.
The Temjin case makes sense because it has a very powerful intake fan, so airflow will be pretty direct. On the other hand with only a rear exhaust fan it would make more sense to have it at the top. If you bought this case you would probably want to install a front intake fan as they don't include one by default.

tj08e doesn't count because, 1 it's an interted layout, the motherboard is on the wrong side and upside down, it's the same as taking a bottom mounted pc case and turning it over.
2 it's matx, the question was why haven't budget matx cases followed on like budget atx cases, where there are plenty of budget bottom mounted psu designs now.
very very few bottom mounted psu matx cases in general, off hand the arc mini, p180 mini, nzxt vulcan are they only ones I can think of.
Re: Well this looks like an interesting budget mATX case
I was asking about these a few weeks back (svedish computer cases) - CAT helpfully posted a video of some muppet or other ;).
Anyway thanks for the links, I can read the reviews now! Although you should all be warned that excellent though Google translate is, I was recently told by a Polish colleague that an article on wood chips or "chips" he had been sent, was translated as microchips. He thought that burning large quantities of silicon for heating was not such a great idea - it certainly would seem like taking die harvesting to the extreme.
Anyway I ordered an Ace Ecco 250 shortly afterwards and would like to have been able to show you some nice pics, but unfortunately there has been a problem with another part of the blinking order and I am still waiting for it (mobo with continuously variable ETA it seems - separate thread started on this) . I was looking for a reasonably unobtrusive matx with a small footprint (no need for massive cooler) and the sound insulation was a bit of a bonus.
I was unsure about the hdd mounting but I'm hoping that having them effectively up the side of the case might help create a good front to back airflow.
If eventually arrives I can try and take some measurements for clearance if you like.
Re: Well this looks like an interesting budget mATX case
I don't see why the inverted motherboard makes any difference. It's not the same as turning over a regular case because you don't invert the direction of the heat rising. Presumably the main reason the MB is inverted in the TJ08-E is so that a graphics card can fit over the HDD cage.
I'm just pointing out that a top mounted PSU isn't necessarily inferior and thus isn't an indication of being a budget case.
Because there is less room in a mATX case you have to be more careful about where components such as the PSU go. Putting the PSU in line with the 5.25" bays makes sense so that the lower area is clear. It seems that top mounting the PSU allows you to shrink the total height of the case more effectively. The P180 "mini" is scarcely smaller than a regular ATX case. (scan lists it as 510mm, but I think that must be include the packaging, I think it is actually 435mm)
The top mounted cases manage to be significantly shorter:
ECCO250 367mm tall
TJ08-E 374mm tall
This is presumably the point, if you want mATX you want it to be small, otherwise why bother?
