Question hardware problem, under performing ?

    hi

    right my system details...

    P4 2.4 533fsb currently overclocked to 2.7
    512mb pc 3500 ocz ram
    abit ic7
saphire radeon x800 pro (flashed to x800 xt PE)
    2x 80gb seagate barracudas ata100
    cd rw etc

right before i flashed the card and was running a 2.4gig i was getting a 3d mark 03 score of 8290... now comparing that score to others i was scoring less than people with a lower spec system...

so i flashed to XT PE and my score went to 9664 at 2.4 gig, still not pleased as people with a much lower spec are getting over 10,000 with standard system settings ... so i overclocked the cpu to 2.7gig and i get 9882 3d marks but still not happy as people with a similar system as mine standard are getting 10000 to late 11000

whats wrong ??? are people just cheating at 3d mark ??? im getting around 220 cpu marks on 3d mark 03... am i just taking this the wrong way and should i be using somthing else for benchmarking ??? ive tryed to use the rage 3d tweak program but it says my gcard is unsupported... also the card came with a overclocking program which gives the same error ?

any help would be good, oh and whats the max cpu voltage i should be running ?

How is your cpu being cooled? P4's have a thing that throttles down the cpu when it overheats which would lower your score.

Your CPU isn't as fast as everyone elses thats why. You sure the full 16 pipes have been enabled? Its any number of things....

I think your comment about people cheating is a bit silly. Its a lot of things that affect these scores and you could just be that yours isn't setup the same.

    You don't mention drivers etc

    cpu is watercooled
graphics card is fully enabled to the 16 pipes

there are people on the online result browser that in there system spec they have say a 1.8 p4 cpu, and they have same amount of ram, and they are getting 10,000 + scores

and how was my cheating comment silly ?? there are quiete a few posts on different forums regarding 3d mark cheating, using programs to alter drivers etc ?

the gcard driver im using is ... catalist 6.14.10.6458

and im using direct x 9b

    windows xp service pack 1

The 533MHz FSB is what is holding you back. So yeh i'd say the CPU, bit unlucky but it just means you have to throw some more cash at it

    I doubt it's just the processor. I have a system with a 2500+ at 2.2GHz (400FSB) with a 9800pro and that scores almost 6000 3Dmarks. Reinstall Windows, and see what happens, it's a fair bet it'll rise.
To err is human. To really foul things up ... you need a computer.
