What is the best compact laser printer for around £50??

The old Canon i550 a relative has been using has finally stopped working(I believe the part which primes the print head has clogged up) after over 8 years.

They do mostly black and white and also not that many pages a month(under 100 a month on average),so I was thinking a laser printer would be a good replacement. It needs to be relatively compact.

I have not kept up with the current budget laser models -so has anyone got some good recommendations??

Are any of the Canon i-SENSYS models any good?? A while back the budget Brother and Samsung laser printers were considered OK?? Still the case now??

    I got a Samsung ML-1865 from Tesco for £35 a few months ago & it's great.

I would suggest a budget colour laser printer, such as the Dell 1250c Colour Laser Printer for £55.59 (use the free 5 day delivery option to get this price).

It's nothing extraordinary, but generic consumables for it are cheap to buy and reviews are good.

    Black toner cartridge (~ 2500pages)
    Cyan toner cartridge (~ 1400pages)
    Magenta toner cartridge (~ 1400pages)
    Yellow toner cartridge (~ 1400pages)

EBay + collection only, local to you. I got a decent spec Epson WiFi printer for £1! There are always a few of them floating round.

Re: What is the best compact laser printer for around £50??

The main issue with fuser/drum is if the printer keeps count of the pages and then refuses to keep printing when it hits it's limit.
We've got an old hp 2300 at work it's never had ether drum or fuser replaced, I've re-oiled the fuser a couple of times but that's it, it's easily done over 30k (both are rated as 10k) thinking about it it's probably closer to 50k, that printer has been there longer than I have.
The HP P1100 have been solid esp for a compact laser printer, it's EOL, been replaced by the P1102, the big down side is to put paper in you fold down the front, so it will take up more space in use vs not in use.

We've got some Canon i-SENSYS printer at work, they are the multi function ones, they've been ok, no high capacity toners and they are quite large.
At home we've got a samsung ml-1910, but it's not quite as small as it looks because the paper feeder sticks out the back
you could have a look at the Samsung ML-2160 that's the same sort of shape and style as the hp p1100, ie it's small but the paper tray is flip down so it needs more space when in use.

I have decided to get the Dell 1250C. However, what is a better place to get it from?? Ebuyer have it for around £55,and Tesco is around £53 with Clubcard points too. Will Ebuyer be easier to deal with if there is an issue?

Received the Dell recently. Print quality is not too bad, although blues are a weakness from the few test prints I have done.
