Hard Drive Help Please :)

i have a feeling that there is a hidden partion on my hard drive,and i wanted to know the best tools to check for hiddern files.

ive formated the HDD and it keeps coming up Partion(1)
where as before it just came up partioned..
everytime i partion it with NTFS it keeps putting the 1 at the end,as if there is already one on the drive........
when i went to install windows,it metioned somthing about puting a dual
operating system on before i started it.

ive looked in disk management and its just showing one partion
is there a tool out there that can check the drive with

its a western digital wd800
80gb 8mb cache 7200 drive

partioning with NTFS and installing XP

use partition magic

If you don't have PM, just use an old DOS boot floppy with FDISK on it. Zap all the partitions and then start from scratch with the Windows install. That's what I've done in the past. BTW, this assumes you don't have anything on the disk you want to save.
