Doom 3 Problems

3.0Ghz P4 800fsb
1GB Cosair 2 x 512 mb pc4000 pro
Asus 9800XT
Abit IC7-Max 3 Mobo
Creative sound blaster audigy + 5.1 speakers

Hey peeps i jsut installed the game but when i go into play it during the very start the sound just completly dies on me :cry:

Ive updated all drivers with no sucess. dont know what to do now. any ideas?

try running the system @ clock speeds - just to see if its not the overclock causing a few issues.

its not overclocked. ive put all to stock for the summer

No not yet, I would suggest waiting for the "official" release comes out and try seeing if that works

Doom 3 was released today (3rd) in the USA.

Maybe the sound blaster isn't compatible with Doom 3.
Either try and find out if it is supported by Doom 3 (they should have a compatability list somewhere) or use the onboard sound of your Max 3 (thats what I use and im fine with that!)

Is it the original Audigy or an Audigy II?

Try plugging in just two speakers and go for a stereo set-up, just to see if that works (remember to set a two-speaker setup in the Windows Audio -> Advanced tab.) If that works, then it's the 5.1 aspect, if not, it's something a bit more fundamental. BTW, I have an Audigy2, and Doom3 works fine on it.

I use the nForce II MCP-T and sometimes the audio cuts out completely. In game, using the PDA, at any time, never does it in multiplayer though.

I fixed it guys. in the audioo setup i turned of surround sound. but when i go into the game the sound works and its still surround. must just need a patch or somthing. thanxx for a;ll the help guys.

Are you sure it's still 'surround'. Is it 5.1 discreet channels? Is there sound from the centre speaker?

i think its 'surround' becuase u can ehar things behind u cause every movement scares the bejesus out of u lol but if not i think a future patch will fix that but for now what i have will have to do. ive waited long enough for the game not to play it.
