New Keyboard

I'm looking for a new keyboard, but don't want anything fancy. I'd like it to be white, wired, and doesn't need any extra keys. In other words, I just want a basic keyboard. The only thing I would like is a nice key feel. I was looking at a cheap Logitec keyboard, something like this:

By the way, does anybody know what is the difference between these keyboards (other than price)? They seem identical to me!

Edit: I was also thinking of getting a Logitec Deluxe Access keyboard, which is a bit more expensive. Anybody have any opinions on these?

Ooohhh - keyboards are a very personal thing.

I'm typing this on my beloved IBM keyboard. It's 'done me' through at least 4 complete PCs. There used to an old saying in the 80's: There are three types of keyboard: the good, the bad, and IBM. The IBM keyboard is strong, heavy, has 'proper' keys with a decent click and lovely springing. Only problem is, IBM just don't make 'em like this anymore: they now make the same 'dead bounce', plasticky rubbish that everyone else does...

I guess what I'm trying to say is DON'T buy a keyboard from the pictures. Get yourself down to a local big PC World and try a few. My two local PC World's have a least 10 keyboards on display for 'trial' - i.e. you can have a type on them. Even if you don't buy from them, at least you can try them out.

NB. I use my PC a lot, for my job as well as gaming, hence my desire for a keyboard I can really live with. Your needs may not be quite so extreme! :-)

I've had the logitech cordless desktop for ages now (I know you want a wired one but these are the future, trust me ) and I've replaced the mouse cos it was a bit nasty, but the keyboard is still well alive, alive-o. Dead easy to take apart and clean, and nice feel on the keys too - very positive action....

Have a look at A4-techs range of keyboards they look like pretty good keyboards. Have no idea how much they are tho

I have a Microsoft Natural Pro.

It's ergonomic, which is great if you can touch type. It doesn't have any extra keys... I like it nice and simple.

Its all a matter of preference, personally I've got an "IBM Preffered" keyboard link its quite stylish and compact imo, its usb with a 2 port usb hub in the keyboard as well, rather handy

I bought mine from ebuyer for about £30 3-4 years ago, which I thought was alot of money for a keyboard, but splashed out anyway. It still works fantastic (all the letters are still ledgible, although w,a,s,d are a bit shiny) so I reckon its worked out as a very good buy - I definitely have another one, especially as they're now a fiver cheaper than they were a few years back

Isnt it the Elite version that has no extra buttons? I got the pro version and its got all blue/grey media buttons running along the top.

I have 3 keyboards for various uses

1) Microsoft Internet keyboard
2) Cherry Solar express keyboard
3) Sharkoon EL backlit keyboard for gaming in the dark

I swap and change between all 3 but the cherry one is my preferred for IRC chatting and I'm slightly swaying to this keyboard whilst gaming now
