New build. What GPU for PhotoShop/graphics work?
Hi all.
Been asked to spec. Up a new machine for mother in law for use with PhotoShop primarily. Budget £700-900. I'm loathed to suggest a mac and just wanted to see what I could offer pc wise for now. I can easily put the rest of it together but I have no idea about graphics cards for professional use. Last time I built a workstation style pc was for a film editor friend & that's pretty different, ended up going for a 2nd had relatively underpowered quadro off ebay purely for compatibility reasons.
I know it will need a lot of RAM to deal with hundreds of layers but I could definitely use advice on gpu. Don't really want to pay over the odds on a 'professional' card, last time I checked they were a rip off.
Thanks in advance.

Have a look at the replies to my thread. It's not all about just the GPU:

Anyone else care to chip in? I had a look at another thread about an animation set up, thinking of going along similar lines as was suggested in that thread though I know PhotoShop is obviously different ball game to animation software.
