    Infrared Remote Control

I'm wanting to use an infrared remote control to operate software such as PowerDVD and Media Player in Windows XP Pro... I'm having trouble finding a USB infrared receiver though, as far as I know a standard USB-IrDA one is incapable of receiving standard infrared remote control frequencies?

I don't know anything about IRDA, personally I have a couple of ATi All in Wonder cards with their RF remote - works a treat and can be programmed to use other software apart from ATi's.

Review of ATi Remote here there is also a new version of this (Remote Wonder II) although I don't know much about this one.

Does the Shuttle one require drivers?

I'm guessing you probably would need to load some drivers, needs Windows XP aswell.

They also don't specify it will work with normal machines. but I don't see why not as there is nothing OS specific installed with a shuttle (as you install your own) and it is only USB so it should work fine.

I have the Shuttle one - it's excellent - requires no drivers in XP - simply runs off Windows 'hot keys' can control Media Player and PowerDVD with NO additional drivers or configuration. Shame I use WinDVD
