    Questions about a Thermalright SLK-800A

    Hi All,
I'm thinking of replacing the copper cooler Soltek supplied with my qBic for something quieter. I'm needing some advice though. The Thermalright SLK-800A (uses a clip as the qBic has no screw holes) looks like a nice heatsink to use and people have fitted them easily in the qBic. I have a few questions that I'm hoping you may help answer.
Does the SLK-800A come with thermal paste? if not what should I use.
    Would a Noiseblocker S3 80mm fan be suitable for a AMD 2500+ (1.5v)?
Would a shim be a useful purchase? they are only 99p from Tekheads which stock all the parts.
Lastly would this really be quieter/cooler than the existing Soltek cooler?

My Current spec is as follows:
    Soltek EQ3702
    Replacement Seasonic 200watt PSU
    Athlon 2500+ (1.5v)
    1gb Crucial DDR
    Samsung P80 160gb 8mb
    Plextor 708a
    Sapphire Radeon 9600XT 'ultimate'

    AMD 2500's are 1.65v iirc
Personally I have an SLK800A in my HTPC box with a 21cfm (15dba ) papst on it and that cools the Duron 1600 fine @ 1.6v - 50C load so there shouldn't be any problems with that fan.
I used a shim a few years ago as I was wary of damaging the cpu core, but haven't bothered for ages, so get one if you're a bit nervous, for 99p its prob worth the peice of mind.
As for quieter - I have no idea, how loud is the current fan ?

Its hard to tell what noise level it is (no specs sorry), its closer to me than my old midi tower as it sits on my desk. As for my CPU, I should have explained its undervolted to 1.5v. I've heard of them being volted much lower, but I decided that 1.5v was a nice compromise.
Did your SLK-800A come with thermal compound?

I can't remember if my heatsink came with thermal compound or not - but I always use AS anyway - personally I'd order some as its always handy to have
