Help please with overhauling my system

O.K. Let me start with what I have:
    Case:
-Lian Li 6077W Black Side Windowed (all stock fans are replaced with silent fans that rate 32cfm & 20db)
    -2 uv cathodes installed
    -Noise padding on
    - Top minus hole for Fan
    - Bottom minus hole for air/filter hole
    - Right Panel
    PSU:
    -Thermatake 480w purepower silent series
    Heatsink/Fan:
    -Thermalright sp97 w/80mm 32cfm silent fan
    Soundcard:
    -Soundblaster Audigy 2 value
    Harddrives:
    -80gig 7200 IBM Deskstar
    -160gig 7200 Western Digital

ok what I would like to update is the motherboard/cpu/ram/vid card

    here's what I'm leaning towards:
    -AMD 2600xp mobile barton
    -Abit NF7-S2
-1gig of Geil PC3500 Golden Dragon DDR Ram
    -Saphire Radeon 9800SE

what I would like to do is overclock it to at least a 3200

    ok now onto the questions!

1a) Is this the best possible set up for what I want to do?
1b) Will my current heatsink/fan support what I want to do or will I run into overheating issues?

I want to softmod the Saphire Radeon 9800SE into a Pro
2a) What are the chances I'm going to end up with artifacts?
2b) Is this a wise course of action?
If so, I believe I will need a heatsink/fan for it...
2c) Would the Zalman zm80c-hp do the trick?
2d) How about the artic vga silencer?
2e) If I get the 9800 Pro instead will I still need to better the cooling for it with these items?

3a) Which is a better option the Abit NF7-S2 or the NF7-S2g?
    3b) What's the difference?

4a) If I replace the stock fans on my PSU with the same silent fans I've been using will I risk burning it out?

5a)Would this system be able to play something like Farcry at full/or close to full settings?
    5b)How about DoomIII?

That's all I can think of...
I appologize for the length of the of the post but I figured it would be easier to just post all my concerns in one big one rather than just throwing questions at you guys. I tried make it as clear and concise as possible. Thanks in advance

P.S. I'm in the U.S. Not sure if that factors into any suggestions but I figured I would mention it.

Do you mean 3.2GHz? if so no way will it do that. It will do 3200+ easy (thats 2.2G)

    I have a 2400+ XP-M @2.5Ghz (will do more only just got it) on a NF7-S v2

What's the price on that golden dragon RAM? Only asking cos regular PC3200 will do you 200FSB so your pretty much certain to get 11x200 or 12x200 with an XP-M chip. Spend the money saved on an 9800pro since the SE cards are not that good.

    I've just build 2500+ XP-M on NF7-S V2 and happily does 12x200 at only 1.725v and with a 9800pro you'll get something like 17500 3d2001 and 5500 3d2003.

That heat sink will be fine... better than fine it's the daddy.

what really concerns me is the fact that im using a silent fan on my cpu...
right now im using a 1.4 tbird and it runs at like 55 (warmer than i would like it)...im afriad that the overclocked chip will run even hotter

also i read that im getting pc3500 ram would make a noticible improvement over the pc3200 in this set up...I'm by far no expert on the subject...I only know what I've read over the past 2 days or so...

also what the difference btwn the nf7-s v2 and the nf7-s2g is? the g is a little more but i couldnt find much information on it

Yes PC3500 will give you a little more headroom to do FSB speeds above 200 however the increase in performance with a 9800pro will be large whereas the increase in performance from 200FSB to 210/220FSB will be small. That's all i'm saying but it assumes you are going to be gaming since a fast graphics card won't help you compress video and other such CPU intensive tasks.

The standard barton chip is 1.65volts and the mobile is 1.45v iirc so overclock to 11x200 3200+ speed and you typically end up back at 1.65v so the heat is the same as a standard barton so the heatsink and silent fan should be fine.

If you want higher FSB speed check out Crucial Ballistix PC3200 will do DDR500 with fast timings. Reviewed over at anandtech.com and can be purchased directly from crucial.com. I think it's about £90 per 512mb stick
