To put it simply, it would be overkill. Although a SSD would be beneficial if you want a faster boot time

    Re: Little Help

yep I don't really see you current pc struggling
If you're low on drive space then get an additional hard drive

the i5 650 wasn't a great cpu, it's only actually a dual core with hyperthreading not a true quad core, but as far as I can remember that shouldn't be an issue for ether BF3 or starcraft2
The ram you have now should be transferable into a new system without issue unless it's old 1066mhz stuff

If you really want to upgrade then I'd look at these:
SSD - for OS general boot time improvement and just to make the system feel a bit snappier
2nd Hard drive - if you need more space
If you really want to upgrade cpu then a new Z77 motherboard and an i5 3570k that's all you need everything else should be re-useable
RAM if 1066mhz then I would look at replacing it with some 1600mhz (simply because that the best price point, 1333mhz would be fine it's just that 1600mhz tends to be cheaper) Although saying that it does depend on what your ram is, there was some good low latency 1066mhz stuff around that's actually better than most 1333mhz ram so that would be fine to re-use.

    Re: Little Help

Yeah, theres really no point in upgrading now, spend your money on a SSD, that will probably give you the most noticeable speed boost. If it were me, I'd wait for the next generation to upgrade.
