Whats the difference between these two mobos in terms of overclocking? I dont need the soundstorm so was looking at the NF7 V2 for a cheap overclockers mobo, does it have the 5 bit FID? that allows 13+ multis? will it do a nice high FSB?

A search for "nf7-s" on the AMD Hardware section at /www.xtremesystems.org forums brought back 1,397 posts worth of opinions and experience. Guess the answer to your question is in there somewhere! :-)

Going by wats on the abit site. The NF7 v2 is a the cut donw version of the NF7-S, No Sound Storm, No SATA, No Firewire.
Now i don't know about ocing on this mobo, dunno if it uses the ultra400chipset or not.
Best bet is to ask on the NF HQ forums
NF7-S v2.0 rocks
[xp 2400 @ 133*13.5] [1Gb Twinmos DDR400 CL 2.5] [Abit NF7-s Rev 2.0] [Tagan 480W PSU] [2 x SATA Maxtor 120gb hdd - 1 x 80gb IDE Maxtor hdd - 1 x 80gb IDE Maxtor hdd] [Teac 4x Cdrw] [SonicFury S/C] [LG GSA-4082B DVD+/-RW] [Radeon 9600 np] [Zalman Al-Cu Flower - Arctic silver 3] [windows xp pro 2600 build] [3x 80mm case fans]
Thats not the answer he was looking for, yeah we know the NF7-S V2 rocks, what he was asking is does the NF7 V2 clock just the same.....Originally Posted by starside
It looks the same mobo cept for no SS/FireWire/SATA.
and it's 20 quid cheaper.
No RAID or SPDIF on that board either iirc, same overclocking capabilities tho

Should be ok with the 13x.It's the 10x and 10.5x multi's this board has probs with.A quick bios flash solves that tho.Originally Posted by Platinum

Ive had a mobile xp2500 @ 13x200 2600mhz on this board
You can select up to 22x on an NF7-S with a Mobile (have to be a low fsb though )
What's the current best flavour CPU for that board now? 2500+ or MP?

I hope that you mean XP-M as opposed to MP
If you are buying a new CPU & want to overclock then the XP-M is worth the extra £10 or so http://www.cpucitystore.co.uk/catalo...roducts_id=464
to get over 210-15fsb with a Mobile you may need an L12 mod.
Btw, with the new modded BIOS AN7's appear to be overclocking very well & of course they offer 3.2Vdimm stock.
