Strange project
I've not had much luck with Freesat boxes (hardware failures and so on) so have had an idea.
Thinking about building a small form factor PC running Linux, with DVR software compatible with the freesat EPG and capable of setting timer recordings from it.
Also need it to be driven by remote rather than keyboard and mouse so basically want the kernel to boot and fire up the software, also want to be able to stick a blu ray burner in there
Was going to base it on something like an Atom CPU with a mobo with onboard graphics that can drive a 1080p feed.
Here's the real stumbling block though, ideally want a PCI card that can drive a twin input LNB.
The reason I am using freesat is round here its hit and miss if you can get freeview or not.
Anyone any ideas?

Re: Strange project
My own experience of TV 'cards' in or attached to a PC is that they were generally less reliable than the made for purpose TV boxes. On the TV side Ross was less than ideal but Humax have been excellent,

Re: Strange project
Have a look round XBMC.
I put together a Mini-ITX rig and posted up about it ages ago, but can't find the thread any more.
