Hi
I bought a new Iiyama IPS monitor. The monitor is great apart from the fact I can hear a high pitched sound coming from it.
This monitor has built in speakers, could it be faulty speakers?
Thanks

My monitor also has this problem, although I can only hear it when its really quiet or when i have my computer turned off cause the buzz is REALLY quiet, and I usually have speakers playing music or I am typing, and it cant be heard over that. Although it persists even when the monitor is turned off, the only way to stop the sound for me is to unplug my monitor. How loud is the buzzing for you?
It is quite noisy and can be annoying.
I removed the audio cable from the monitor and the buzzing stops. I only plug it back in when I need to listen to stuff as you cant hear the buzzing over the sound I am listening to.
You can hear it when I am not listening to anything. Taking out the sound cable from the back of the monitor solves this though.
Do you have a mic plugged in? mine causes all sorts of issues with my speakers, usually have it turned off
Why not use external speakers then? Or headphones?
I do... only suggesting that this may be causing an issue
I've known monitors to emit a high-pitched whine like dokdek describes which is probably coil whine or some other sort of electronic noise. There's generally not a lot you can do about that, but you can generally only hear it when it's really quiet, unless it's particularly loud.
As for the OP's problem, it sounds like it could be a ground loop; are both monitor and PC properly grounded or do either of them run from Dc power bricks (which usually implies they're not grounded)?
None run from DC power bricks, they are both properly grounded. I am using my headphones with my Xonar sound card now though. Monitor speaker quality is very poor anyway.
I own 22" LG with TN panel and it was buzzing (the rear of the panel) especially when the background color was white, or very light. for some reason it was worse in PDF files.
I've even sent it in for warranty repair - no change, so I just got used to it, as it isn't bad most of the time.
and headphones help too :)
