Pricecheck on a slightly outdated rig (1983-ish)

I've been given the opportunity to flog an old family PC, just wondering what people reckon as eBay can be a bit hard to gauge sometimes.

As far as I know, it's a BBC Micro with all the bits - monitor (utilising popular colours such as "green" and "black"), dual 5.25" floppy drive, cassette player with various high quality games including a fighter pilot sim, a top quality printer (with the latest dot-matrix technology), and I believe all the manuals and bits and pieces.

A couple on eBay seem to have gone for north of £100, but that seems like a heck of a lot.

Unless you really have to sell it, keep it

Maybe watch a couple of auctions and see what the price ends up as. Ignore the buy it now auctions, they are wildly inaccurate pricing models I have found.

You could always get one of those really old books from like 1988, the ones that allow you to "program your own adventure game" and after you have typed in the 1000 or so lines of basic, find out you have made a mistake somewhere - SYNTAX ERROR IN LINE 5720, good times lol

What kind of geek are you? Stop asking daft questions - there is always a reason to have copious amounts of outdated tech around

My grandfather has been programming on it for the last 30-ish years, should probably ask for some tips! Mind you, my experience of trying to learn Java is surprisingly reminiscent of your vision, so I dread to think how useless I'd be.

See, I have the anti-hoarder gene, and chuck everything I have as soon as I can't think of a use for it. At present I don't even have a spare stick of RAM or a hard-drive, let alone an entire PC!
