Anybody got any views about putting a Prescott in a SB75G2?
I've read a few reviews that say it runs a touch hot and the box gets a bit noisey !!!

Ohh my god, my heatsink melted
Prescotts run at about 90C, thats seriously hot.
Its like having a coal fire inside your shuttle.
Thats my view anyway
I think I'll go for the Northwood, should keep the box cooler and quiet-ish.
Do you have a SB75G2? What is the 250W Silent PSU like ?
Oh and what Video, memory and such like have you got ?
All these questions eh !!!
Haven't got the 75G2, I got the RefleXion edition shuttle instead
Depends what your going to be doing with your system really?
Mainly digital imaging stuff, got a pretty good didgy camera, video editing, might link it up to a music system some time, mp3's etc, saves getting up for a CD...... oh and lots and lots and lots of championship manager.
Can i ask what graphics card you are going to put in this rig? Might be able to advise a better proc and shuttle if you are not going to game alot
Prescotts and shuttles dont mix together well mate. You'll have heat problems at stock, so overclocking is out of the questions. Pair it up with a 6800GT/Ultra and u got urself a nice lil barbeque machine
I'm not sure what graphics card to put in, I've been looking at a ATI Radeon 128 MB ...... I'm sort of looking around the £80 mark.
What is the machine for. If its for gaming you would need a decent card (9800 Pro ) if its just for windows work (like writing or surfing the net) then you only need something like a Gf FX 5200.
So tell us, whats it for?
As per post above
I saw Shuttles booth at Computex this year. They had half a dozen XPCs all running prescott 3.0s.
Also at the press center, they had 30 machines running prescotts 3.0. Shuttle and Prescott. It is possible
