    Upgrade time but wha parts?

Hey guys after some time out from the pc i've decided its time to start buying parts for a new build (due to be built nearer xmas)

So i used to own an animal of a computer...i7 high end board gtx 580 which has damn lost its value! 8gb ram...but anyway!

I am definatly going to go quad core no questions asked!

    parts i have,
    Case
    HDD
    PSU

These are all from my old build, psu is a decent one so no need to upgrade (i customized it so unable to sell due to safty!)

    So i need a mobo,cpu and memory

I've always been wary of amd due to always having a slow experince in the past, i did think about a i5 setup, but i dont want to be spending loads on this build!

GPU is a 660 that is being bought later on!

limit is a max of 300 but as said im happy to buy second hand if need be! the pc will be mainly used for some light gaming but does need to be nippy i hate slow computers....thankies!

    How about this little setup:

    i5 3450 3.1Ghz £146
    Asus Z77 Motherboard Sata III & PCIE 3.0 £84
    Corsair Vengeance (2x4Gb) 8Gb Kit 1600Mhz DDR3 £36

That whole bundle will cost you approx £276 inc Shipping from Scan

Would be a nice system when you get that 660 in there. Out of interest what happened to the i7 & 580 system as to be honest it would be faster than this one.

Either get a GTX670 or an HD7950. If you are looking at spending not more than £200,I would wait and see how the GTX660 non-TI pans out. I do have a feeling the HD7870 might be as fast or faster.

Are you overclocking and what parts do you have ATM??

Well..:i sold the old system due to a massive break up with the ex gf, needed the cash as I was homeless lol.

I prob wont OC as I dont think I will need to, I currently dont have anything special its a amd dual core with some generic mobo and 2 gb of generic ram...onboard gpu! So yes a pretty pants system!

The HD7950 is massively underclocked at stock clockspeeds. You are looking at a around 25% to 40% overclock.

What case and PSU do you have now?? What is the motherboard model??

Re: Upgrade time but wha parts?

just to chime back in abit, i got my hands on a nice cheap i3 bundle, £80 so pretty sorted for the time being however i am still going to upgrade it all of course!

The psu from memory (not at home) is a 600w corsair silent pro it has flat cables. the case is a partially modded fractal design case still needs to be finished but it does only take mATX.
