Eh? Inside a PC you mean? There are lots of different voltages coming out of the PSU....

If it's the mains plug you're talking about, then brown is always live.

There isn't "LIVE" wires as such in PC's Russ, best thinking of them as V+, Ground etc....

Ground is generally black... Then you've got things like some plugs that have two V+ inputs, one at 12v others at 5v etc.

Ask you question again for us and make it clear what you want to know

Yeah if you plug a Mobile 2500 into your distributor you get an ECU

Remember there are also -v wires in the PC, which should also be considered to be live.

out of the psu:-
/me dusts off his old sparkle psu and looks at the label
+3.3V : orange
+5Vsb : purple
+5V : red
-5V : blue
+12V : yellow
-12V : brown
p.g. signal : white
ground : black

into the psu:-
neutral : blue
live : brown
earth : yellow/green

And to make it even more complicated theres also three-phase power (for industrial stuff) which uses red, yellow and blue, iirc, as live ..

Make sure you got a voltage regulator in there russ (if you are running of car battery) it can spike upto 18v on startup!
