    Case- help choosing!

Hey everyone, new to hexus, and im moving to London in a couple of days!
Bringing my computer over, but decided against luggin' my CM690 (9kg's! ) all the way from India.
I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for a case under or around the 50 mark, preferably shipped, or if i can post enough on hexus, for free? from what i hear...

    thanks

I'm a big fan of Fractal Design cases. I think some of their cheaper models can be had for around your asking price.

    Re: Case- help choosing!

I've seen a couple of those, but the ones within my budget are the core 1000 and the Core 3000.
I'm drooling over the R3 though and wondering if its worth stretching my budget a bit for the soundproofing and cable routing.
It is kinda similar to the Antec P182 though, i wonder how they stack up against each other though...

I have the r3 and love it. I can't compare it to the antec though.

    Re: Case- help choosing!

The r3/r4 are really good cases if you can stretch the budget. Bitfenix cases tend to be a bit cheaper, and a fair amount of people rate those, however I have never seen one so cannot really comment on them.

    Re: Case- help choosing!

+1 for the Fractal cases, I recently bought the Desire XL which is the bigger brother of the R3/R4 and I love it. I didn't realize how quite a modern gaming PC could be with all the years of my using my Thermaltake Armour case (that weighs over 15kg!)

    Re: Case- help choosing!

Depends on exactly it is you're after, for a really budget case I'd say the casecom K5-9388 http://www.ebuyer.com/239238-casecom...an-k5-9388blue I still rate it as the best sub £30 mid tower on the market.
If you're only going to be using it for a short time and don't want the hassle of taking a case back to india, even if you cannot sell it when you head back you'd not lose much by leaving it behind.
Although that Xigmatek Pantheon looks like a very good option for the cost (the original xigmatek midguard was the same internal frame as the original cm 690, I think they came from the same factory)

the core1000 is really nice as a cheap mATX case, the core3000 is good with some nice features, but when it first came out it was rather overpriced for what it was, it's not so bad now, just a bit pricey for what it is.
The bitfenix cases are not bad (although something funny going on with their distributors so far harder to get hold of now.
The Antec Three Hundred Two is a nice option
heck there's the old thermaltake element S which is still a decent case and can be had for a sane £60 now (that's another that was rather too much when it was new)

As said before, +1 for the R3. its easily the best case I have worked with, so quiet its untrue.

the new R4 is better, it's the same case but made wider, so bigger fans can be fitted and there's more space for cabling, down side is it cost a chunk more.

    Re: Case- help choosing!

Like Pob255 mentioned the Antec 302 is a good case. I've used it for my brother and my parents builds. Its big without being over the top and has good cooling out the box.

    Re: Case- help choosing!

it's not perfect, but the BitFenix Survivor is well cooled, quiet case, with plenty of room inside, removable drive trays + dust filters etc. Also a useful carry handle. I use it, and am very happy with it. Except for when I have to unscrew the cap piece to get the side off. Otherwise, I'd recommend it. And it's cheap right now - under £50.

    Pros, everything above
    sturdy + well built
    good space for cable management
comes with USB3, and 2 x120mm quiet (switchable LED) fans

Downsides, a little wide perhaps, but not badly so
Fiddly process of getting inside it
needs another 120mm rear fan for best cooling

    Re: Case- help choosing!

I have a R3 and its extremely well built, I love it, the only thing that annoys me is that the rubber grommets come off VERY easily, but apparently that is solved in the R4. If you could extend the budget a bit, go with R4 or the Define XL

Love my R3, but if the Cooler Master Silencio 550 was out when I built my PC I probably would have got that instead.

I know these aren't the exact same cases, but the Define is both cooler and quieter than the Silencio.
