Re: New build Advise
What you doing and whats your screen setup?
The mobo could probably be to a cheaper option (its a premium hence the prcie tag). Go down to an i5 3570/2500k.
Not sure on ideal cooler; Hexus did a review recently but £50 seems an awful lot. I was under the impression the thermal limit of the chips are due to the poor design limiting them thermally and not the price of the cooler.

Re: New build Advise
gaming mostly but i hope to still be gaming on this rig in a few years time, im not a every 2 year upgrader like I used to be

Re: New build Advise
Also of the ones youve pointed me to one isnt great when overclocking 1 isnt sold by scan 2 are more expensive and the thermaltake and noctua are just plain ugly
-
Re: New build Advise
I agree noctua are ugly but they had to stand out in some shape, way or form :p
Also an i5 3570k is overclockable and is just what you need for gaming, i7 will be overkill the hyperthreading will go to waste..
Also around that money you could go with water cooling instead such as the Corsair H40 or H60..an air alternative would be the following:

Re: New build Advise
I did think about water but after reading reviews the top airs are just as good if not better than the aio waters and tbh throwing another 500 quid at a custom water loop seems like a lot I might still go the custom water route after xmas or something but I wanted be able to play first, also I do do some video encoding mkv2vob and stuff on it too hence the i7
