    Duel raid

    Manufacturer: MAXTOR
    Capacity (GB): 200GB
    Rotation Speed (RPM): 7200
    Cache (MB): 8MB
    Access Time (ms): -
    Interface: Serial ATA 150
    Warranty: Yes

Ok the above is the extra hard drive i wish to install i already have an SATA 120GB drive running now on one of the two free sockets on my asus p4p 800 m/board. If i buy this drive at £73 (scan.co.uk) do i just plug it in and windows will know its there or do i have to do some BIOS tweaks saying i now have RAID1 (RAID0) already taken.

    Your comments are most welcome.

I'm not entierly sure what you mean by the last sentance.
Can you put it a bit clearer?

To just add the drive - Plug it in and partition it etc.

If you want to setup RAID - Someone with a P4P 800 would be better to advise you.

Best idea with raid is to have two identical drives. Same size, because otherwise you lose space. No you can't just install it, if you are going to raid 0 the machine with two drives. I would do a fresh install of windows after setting up the raid in the RAID BIOS config (note may be seperate BIOS - sometimes entered with CTRL A after bios settings - varies from motherboard to motherboard)

Then F6 when installing windows, install you raid drivers and put everything else on. I love having raid 0 drives, i do get better performance in windows and when messing about with SQL databases etc, don't expect any performance increase in games tho..

    Hope that helps

By defult it will not be raided, simply conect it and windows will find it! If you wish to raid it... well you'd need two Identical drives.

You don't NEED two identical drives, IT just makes sense to have the same drive, as with two drives of different size say 120GB and 200GB you loose 80GB of the 200GB disk when you raid them together.
