    Question Straight Answer...

    Hey All

    I've been offered a 2.8 Ghz Athlon XP (unknown fsb) for £325.75, howerver i've looked at some sites and I can't even find any AMD cpu's that go over 2.20 Ghz (Athlon XP 3200 Barton 400 Fsb) do 2.8ghz AMD cpu's even exsist ? Could this just be a over-clocked barton ?
    What do you wizards think.

    PS. Just to be sure, XP 3200 400fsb Barton's do run (stock) at 2.20 ghz when you first buy them don't they ? or am I reading the AMD site wrong. Is the "3200" in the name actually the speed eg 3.2Ghz ?

    no athlon runs at 2.8ghz, either hes clocked it to that once or hes yanking your plunger.

    The funny thing is this isn't even like some doggy deal you get in the back of a pub, no, this is actually a local computer store near me. Whats even more funny, their advertising these cpu's right up to 3.0 / 3.2 ghz. When is saw the offer I didn't even suspect anything, as I always thought that AMD could do the same speeds as Intel. LOL think it's time to go out and buy me some comp mags, and get up to date..

    Well he charges £140 for a 2000+ hear which is fastest he sells and £180 for a Ti 4400 :O i always shop online tho and the 2800+ should be £120 Max also the athlons that are 3200+ are not 3.2Ghz corky they are rated to run as well as a P4 at that speed do ur reserch and the 2800+ is 2.087Ghz not 2.8Ghz U Numptys

    Well, actually the Athlon XP rating is how fast it would be if it was an Athlon Thunderbird at that performance level. Do your research jcb33

    PS. I got an XP1700 knocking around, you can have it for £500 if you like
