    Wireless Headset

I am looking for a headset I can use for gaming and occasionally films. I would prefer wireless as there's enough wires around my desk and computer already! I know wireless pushes the budget up a fair bit, but despite wanting to spend as little as possible I would pay a bit extra for wireless. I do want a reasonably good sound though (i.e. it needs to have some bass, but not on audiophile levels). I guess around £60-70 is a good start if that is possible.

Have seen some nice ones around, like the Corsair H2100, but at £95 I just don't think I can justify going to that much. Not worried about funky stuff like surround sound, but am concerned with build quality, sound quality and comfort.

Anyone have any ideas, or is my budget just too low? If so, what would you suggest?

    Re: Wireless Headset

Yes, your budget is too low. Bascially, the H2100 is pretty much the cheapest decent wireless headset available. It's excellent for gaming and also much better for music listening than your usual gaming headset, since it's tuned towards neutral and not to deliver music-destroying levels of soft and floppy bass.

Battery life is good (I get 9-10 hours, as advertised) and it's also quite comfy, although that's obviously subjective. Personally I found it significantly better than the main competition, the Astro A50, when I tried them both out before buying.

    Re: Wireless Headset

Went ahead and ordered the H2100. Decided it was worth the extra for a wireless headset, considering how many cables I have on my desk at the moment, plus I stood up the other day, caught my current headset cable with my foot, and sent half a dozen items flying across the room.

The decent wired headset I was about to order was only £20-30 less, so I thought I would pucker up and go for it.

Will update the thread when I get it, let people know what it's like.

I know I'm a little late to the party but have you considered the Sony Stereo Wireless headset?

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/Sony-PlaySta.../dp/B00I8S4E1C

I know it lacks some features for the PC but it does the basics very well, good sound, good mic.

It does work, it's just detected as a generic Bluetooth device. I've not used it for gaming on the PC but the sounds works fine as does the mic.

    Re: Wireless Headset

Well, I've had the H2100 for a couple of days now, and I must say I am impressed! The sound quality is really good, and everyone on TS3 says I sound a lot clearer now. Not having wires to worry about is a lovely plus as well.

However, they are pretty heavy (I guess all wireless headset will be though due to batteries), and it's taking a while to get used to it. But that's the only drawback so far.

Battery life is really good as well, I only started hearing a beep in my ears last night and I used them for almost 24 hours listening to music, watching films and playing GTA V.

Mine feels very sturdy, but I won't be able to tell until I get a good few weeks/months use out of them.

Glad you liked it Allen and that I didn't give crap advice. As far as sturdiness goes mine is a few months old now and have given me zero cause for concern. Then again I'm careful with my stuff, so my experience may not be applicable to all.

    Re: Wireless Headset

Just a quick addition but another confirmation that the Sony Wirelesss headset works. I picked up a second hand one for the PS4, but thought I'd just try to plug it into the PC and yep, just plug and play. No virtual surround sound, but it works fine for games.

    Re: Wireless Headset

Sorry for a bit of a thread hijack Allen but as I'm also looking for a headset and read 2 posts that caught my attention I thought I'd ask here .

@ DannyM & jonathan_phang if you were doing a mini review vs other headsets what would you say about the Sony units?

JL have them @ £65 (2yr Guarantee) which seems very reasonable for a wireless set which will work on the PC (stereo) & PS3/4 (7.1). My current budget is £50 for wired headset and would stump up the extra £15 for wireless and multi platform use.

    Re: Wireless Headset

Well, I'm no real audiophile when it comes to headsets, its probably my first semi decent set, so I dont really have much of a frame of reference. I got it predominantly for the PS4, and personally, I find them very comfortable, which as I wear glasses is one of the more important points. I have used them for a couple of hours at a time whilst on Bloodborne and I never found that they got too sweaty or pressured the arms of my glasses too much.

The pad on your ears are pretty soft leather (or faux leather) and have enough room so that your ears dont get squashed. Of course this is dependent on your ears, but you get what I mean. Volume goes louder than you would probably ever need them, and although they aren't the bassiest things ever, I'm fine with that. You can download a companion app on the PS4 and set custom bits and pieces, or download specific game profiles that can be uploaded to the set. Worked great with the Last of Us and the virtual surround, definitely a more expansive sound.

On the PC, its plug and play, and much of the same applies, except you dont get the VSS. Volume again is good, and I've just installed Batman Arkham City, and whilst using these felt they still had enough weight in the sounds to match the pummeling on screen

I guess it depends on what you have had before and what your expectations are, but I got mine second hand, thought they were very flexible, easy to charge, lasted long enough for the sessions I needed them for and generally seems a good all rounder. But I'll repeat I'm no audiophile, so if its top quality you want then you'd more likely need to shell out more.
