    Question Budget PSU

    Hi

I'm looking to buy a new PSU since my current one causes my PC to shutdown while gaming. Unfortunatly I can't spend much on a new one, so I'm looking into the budget range ones between £30-£40. Is there such thing as a good budget PSU within my price range?

I was looking at a Levicom 420W PSU that's on sale for £36 Inc. VAT and delivery. It's this one: http://www.aria.co.uk/ProductInfoCom...498&opener=DFT

It would need to power the following PC though:

Athlon XP 2700+ plus Thermaltake Volcano 12 HSF
    MSI K7N2 Delta ILSR
    128MB Radeon 9800 Pro
    1024MB(2x 512MB) RAM
    DVD Drive
    CDRW Drive
    Few case fans

    Thanks.

Boris mate..you've come to both the WRONG and the RIGHT Forum.

We are striving to get people to cut back on ANY PART OF THEIR BUDGET simply to then get THE BEST PSU THEY CAN AFFORD.

Its even more important than the cpu or motherboard. It can ruin EVERYTHING, not just in STABILITY but also in FIRE

If you have to sell something to get one, do. Just get a GOOD ONE. It will be with you for YEARS.

The vid card, the cpu, the ram, the mobo..all will be gone...only the PSU remains.

SO....right forum but its gonna cost ya

    Good luck dude

Hmm, I could maybe put my budget up to £50 and get a Thermaltake Silent 480W PSU, the Levicom looks tempting though since there's £11 off it.

    Antec Truepower 330 £42
    http://www.ebuyer.com/customer/produ...duct_uid=35881

    or better still
    Antec TruePower 430 £69
    http://www.ebuyer.com/customer/produ...duct_uid=35882

I know how hard it is to justify something that doesn't seem to do anything, but to have an unstable PC is hell. You can spend weeks or months with instability, and never know its the PSU.

When Antec say Truepower, they mean Truepower...ultra stable voltages, monster quality components and real heatsinks. Plus they are very quiet AND do a superb job of pulling air out of your PC. You will probably be able to get rid of a case fan or two, just cos it does such a good job of pulling air through
