Socket 1156 motherboards...

...where did they all go?

I managed to irreversibly brick my motherboard (MSI P55 GD65) a couple of days ago whilst upgrading the BIOS as it wasn't correctly reading all my RAM. So I'm now in the market for a new (or indeed used) mobo. However, I drew up nothing on Scan or Ebuyer and I even resorted to Amazon who don't have any reasonably priced ATX motherboards.

Can anyone point me in the direction of where they all went? Money is very tight at the moment so I'm after the cheapest - second hand I think would be a good choice.

I'll run a parallel thread in Wanted to see if any Hexites have any lying around.

Is it truly dead?? Have you seen these type of threads as there is an MSI recovery process for bad bios flashes but it doesnt always work.

Yes I have tried that already but to no avail. All the fans spin up and then just sit there spinning, with nothing coming onto the screen and no power coming out of USB ports (i.e. lights on keyboard don't come on).

I was looking for socket 1156 stuff the other day on behalf of a friend and was shocked to find it had all gone. I have to admit this whole changing socket thing does make me prefer AMD.

1156 was an odd socket - both 1155 and 1366 fare better for parts/availability.
