Plantronics 780 USB headset LOUD!
Hi all,
picked up some 780's and the general sound is very good. I have one issue though. I have to play with the master volume at 10% and even then they are pretty loud. When my volume is at 0% they are still at what I would classify as a normal if not slightly loud volume. I seem to have no means of turning the volume down to a point where I can only just hear.
I've seen online a few threads of people having similar issues with other usb headsets but non seem to have a good solution. Anyone have any ideas? Can I change a reg key to adjust the scale of decibels on my master volume or any other whacky ways to prevent my ears bleeding if I were to turn them up past 15%
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Re: Plantronics 780 USB headset LOUD!
I actually have the same issue with my Plantronics audio 550 USB headset which I've had for 5 years (I had too google image this to find out the product code!).
I have to have it at 1% - the lowest setting - for it to be bearable.
Interestingly enough, this worked fine in back in Windows XP. When I upgraded to Windows 7, it seems changes in driver has caused the volume to be too high. As these headsets use the built in Windows drivers I haven't found a solution.
The only software available for my particular headset is the Plantronics Persona control panel tool which allows tone adjustment, but this is now obsolete.

My Corsair USB headset (Vengeance 1500) is also VERY loud with minimal volume, I guess its just something with USB.

There has to be something that can be done, time for some super sleuthing on the web I think.

My Giotek EX05 is also loud when using the usb, not as loud as you guys seem to be reporting, but much louder at the same volume setting on it's inline remote than it is when using it's analog connections.

I realise that you may have solved the issue by now, but I have a question; Have any of you booted your pc from a Linux 'live' cd/dvd and have you found that you have the same issues in the Linux environment?
