I am surprised at the performance increase in Skyrim.

Interesting article.

Skyrim is known to be quite CPU dependant - could be improving driver efficiency helps out the CPU a lot.

Hmmm, be interesting to re-benchmark my APU bundle on 12.9, see if it helps out skyrim on lower powered graphics, since that's pretty much the most graphically intensive game that computer gets used for. Might even be able to tweak some settings up from minimum

No formal test, but I think BL2's minimum fps has gone up a touch since going 12.8 - 12.9b
