CM Mechanical Keyboard and Cherry BROWN Switch

Not sure if a lot of people have seen this keyboard but i took one out of the box today and im really impressed it reminds me of a cross between the RAZER and QPAD Mechanical keyboards

    http://www.scan.co.uk/search.aspx?q=LN44449

    or http://www.cmstorm.com/en/products/keyboards/Trigger/

its the SGK-6000-GKCC1 - Coolermaster CM Storm Black TRIGGER Mechanical Gaming Keyboard with Backlit BLACK Cherry Switch keys.

now at the moment the UK and EU only currently have Black Cherrys avail.

BUT... if enough people show interest we can arrange for the UK to received stock of the other cherry colours

so what im asking is which keys people prefer and would people like to see this keyboard with the RARE Brown keys?

    feedback welcome please

    SGK-6000-GKCC1 (Black Switch)
    SGK-6000-GKCL1 (Blue Switch)
    SGK-6000-GKCM1 (Brown Switch)

Re: CM Mechanical Keyboard and Cherry BROWN Switch

A breakdown of each Cherry MX colour switch here: http://www.overclock.net/t/491752/me...keyboard-guide

I know the Corsair K60 has Cherry MX Red. But it doesn't use mechanic on all the keys. I think the top row (Esc & Fn keys) are standard keys.

Is the Coolmaster CM Storm series entirely mechanical?

Re: CM Mechanical Keyboard and Cherry BROWN Switch

YES PETE! CM keep ignoring me and i have been looking for a second keyboard (a tenkeyless one without the numpad for gaming!) the CM rapid is top of my list, reason being is that its made by the OEM of Filco(classed as one of the top dogs in quality of mechanical boards) and is well priced.

If you can grab the red switch i would buy it right now , i was tempted to take the black but its a much heavier switch and i prefer light ones if possible. I must say though that my filco with mx browns is an excellent compromise between all switches and i find it brilliant for typing and gaming .

And it has to be UK layout

edit: Ah, i was over zealous i thought it was this board: http://www.coolermaster.co.uk/produc...roduct_id=6817 SGK-4000-GKCR1
That is the one you need, i dont want the model you mentioned... no need for USB/numpad etc .
Shame, although if you could get the CM quickfire rapid with red switches i will indeed order right now .

If you could enquire about the quickfire rapid with reds id appreciate it, i think a big retailer has much more weight than a random person asking , seems they take so darn long to get it to england yet the US get it pretty fast .

Re: CM Mechanical Keyboard and Cherry BROWN Switch

This one's cool. Here in my location, Trigger MX Blue costs not far from Corsair's K60 ($10 difference), which uses MX Red switches only (Preferable for gaming). It's good that the user can get to choose among the 4 different CM Storm Triggers. And yes, unlike Corsair's K60 and K90, Trigger's all-mechanical including Esc, Function buttons, etc.

Wooo, excellent Pete if you could . The advantage for me is that it hits all the right notes, for gaming a full keyboard is just so uncomfortable because the numpad is in the way so i cant position my mouse directly infront of me but when working im not needing my mouse much so its fine having a full size(i need the numpad then ), so to be my dedicated gaming board it is small enough to let me sit and game comfortably and its extremely well built and very good price (almost half the price of filcos!) .

    Cannot wait!.

Re: CM Mechanical Keyboard and Cherry BROWN Switch

I'm not in the immediate market for a new keyboard, but if I was, I would be looking for cherry brown, backlit and laser etched keys, in a compact form (and UK layout of course). That doesn't look too far off the mark.

Re: CM Mechanical Keyboard and Cherry BROWN Switch

ok thanks for the feed back guys thats great

i have spoken to CM and so i think BROWN is a better option as its a in-between black and red so should keep everyone happy

also due to your input i have requested both the Quick Fire Rapid and TRIGGER with BROWN Keys

Now as they have to be made in the factory and shipped over from Taiwan your at a ETA of 2 to 3 Months. to get them asap i have requested a small air shipment and rest via sea.

so when you see them for sale on all the sites in UK - you can get that nice warm feeling in your heart as it was all down to you guys and your input today

    Best Regards
    Pete

Re: CM Mechanical Keyboard and Cherry BROWN Switch

well the browns are inbetween blue switches and blacks, they have a bump when you hit the activation point but no click(blue click and bump) and are lighter than blues, quieter too so they are the best compromise between them.

But reds are lighter blacks, the best for gaming im told as they are as light as a brown without the need for the bump and again quieter .

Re: CM Mechanical Keyboard and Cherry BROWN Switch

I'm glad to see Scan starting to stock more mechanical keyboards, the UK is in desperate need of more retailers offering them.
Browns often are considered a nice middle ground amongst the cherry mx switches, I personally am now typing on a Poker with blacks, having come from one with blues, and before that reds. Within a couple of days of use I'm used to whichever switch I've tried (had a Noppoo with browns a while back)

The CMStorm boards are very good for the money, Costar made, so you know you're handling a decent product, only downsides being the logos and general look of the board really. Any intentions of stocking ANSI layouts? (purely since if you want to buy new keycaps, you're almost 100% limited to ANSI)

    Edit:
In regards to Browns being rare, that's not really true, overall, reds are the rarest main switch (of the 4 main colours, black, brown, red and blue). Would love to get a leopold with clears, any chance you could find out about getting them in the UK?

Re: CM Mechanical Keyboard and Cherry BROWN Switch

This is great news, I'm in the market for a new keyboard so this is timely. Incidentally I asked CM on their FB about this literally a few days ago and they did say there were looking into bringing the Quick Fire Rapid Browns to the UK so this bodes well. Can't wait to see these in stock in the UK!

Re: CM Mechanical Keyboard and Cherry BROWN Switch

Why are brown switches so rare if they offer a good compromise?
