Biostar and Soltek SFF Barebones ??

Hi,
I am completly new to Biostar and Soltek SFF Barebones,so call me stupid but are the Biostar and Soltek SFF Barebones ,the same in as you dont need a processor heatsink as one is already built in ready for you to fit the CPU under it ??.

The Solteks usually come with coolers for the AMD based ones or assume you have one from your Intel retail box. They are not however built in to the case so you can choose your own cooler as long as it fits. The Solteks have a large extraction fan instead. Biostars I don't know much about, so I can't really comment. Although what I had read of them didn't inspire faith.

Just got a Biostar 200N which takes a AMD XP cpu, and it has a built in processor heatsink. So far i am very happy with it and it seems to overclock ok as well

I've just got a soltek and very impressed. The heatsink for the amd chips is very good, full copper heatsink.

I still put in a thermalright slf-800 though to keep it quiet. I'm using it as a multimedia box.

What 80mm fan did you team the thermalright with? did it come with any compound?
I have the EQ3702, which came with a Enhance PSU which I've switched for a Seasonic (much quieter), but I believe the new 250watt qBics come with Seasonic PSUs now (They start with SS-). I've also found Speedfan can easily adjust the fans up and down in Windows.

Cool, maybe I was a little unfair on the Biostar. Although comparing my newer qBic with the older reviews Soltek implemented alot of the recommendations.

Sorry for the delay in replying i've only just noticed it

I had a spare Coolermaster 80mm which i hooked onto it. Only the fan wouldnt work connected to the MB, presumably not enough power getting to it, so i hooked it up to a molex on 7v and it runs pretty quiet. I took the system fan down to silent and the cpu temps are 50C ish on a Duron 1800. Mine's on a 200W PSU. Im pretty happy with it, though I havnt given it a good blast yet.

I can't really do much at the moment as my Car's MOT is due much sooner than expected so I'll postpone my further silencing.
I think my room is just very acoustically sensitive as I recently got an xbox and it sounds a lot louder than in my living room.

Most reviews on the Biostar complain that it is poorly designed and cheaply built. The solteks gets similar complaints but they more focus on the pathetic cooling and extremely high temps of this machine.

Hi,have just took delivery of a gleaming new IDEQ 200N,it looks great ,this is my first time into the world of SFF barebone units,i've always been a big tower person ,until now and took the plunge,so before i put it all together ,my spec will be :-

Athlon XP 2600
2x 512mb 27000 ram
sata 120gb drive
DVD RW drive

Are there any setting or jumpers i should look at before i start ?? or things that are unique to this model ??,thanks
